We have lift off!
Last night J Girl asked to ride her bike without training wheels. It was late, I was tired, so I guess I just agreed so she would stop asking. Oh, she'll forget I thought.
But, when I opened my eyes this morning there she was. "It's morning time!" she sung, "Time to ride my bike with two wheels!"
Ugh as I heaved myself out of bed.
"Tonight, when I get home we will ride the bike, sound good?" I said as I stepped into the shower.
I guess you can say I wasn't surprised when I called home at lunch and she answered, "Are you on your way home now? Is it time for me to ride my bike?"
"In a little while. When I get home we will ride your bike for sure."
I was locked in. And what's a Mommy to do when locked in? Use it to her advantage. When I arrived home this evening there were toys everywhere.
"I wanna ride my bike, I wanna ride my bike!" she screamed jumping up and down.
"First you pick up all the toys and put them where they belong. THEN, we will ride the bike."
Off she went....it was wonderful. I never seen such toy collecting proficiency. She was like lightening pushing everyone out of her way to get it done.
"Done Mommy!" as she ran for her shoes.
"Alright. Daddy will take the training wheels off while I skim the pool. But NOW, I want you to collect all the pool toys and put them where they belong."
And AGAIN, she was off. Running from here to there picking up the floats, toys, squirt guns and piling them up on the side. It was absolute bliss.
Just as I finished up, Big Daddy was done with the bike. I put on her gear and we headed out to the sidewalk. I explained the general concept as she put her feet on the pedals. The first few times I held her up and she pedaled on. The next time I held for a short while then let go....she fell. A few falls later, and by golly........she got it!
That's my girl!

Woohoo!!!!! That's so cool.

I have no problems using somrhting like that as a way to get things done. In fact I am almost positive my mother did the same thing.
I do the same deal when a coveted trip is in order to say the park. "You have to clean your toys up BEFORE" or "you have to rub mommys feet before..." BWAHAHAHAHA

Awesome!!!! Hey- a Mom's gotta grab a clean-up opportunity when she sees one.
